MountainView Regional Medical Center Kicks off Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Support Casa de Peregrinos
3/3/2025
LAS CRUCES, NM, March 3, 2025 – Today, MountainView Regional Medical Center kicked off its annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefitting Casa de Peregrinos (CdP) Emergency Food Pantry and is inviting community members to participate in this effort to fight hunger in the local area.
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive will run through Friday, March 28.
“MountainView not only supports the patients who come through our doors, we are also committed to supporting better health throughout our community,” said Matthew Conrad, MountainView CEO. “An estimated 22 percent of people in Las Cruces live in poverty, which can have a profound impact on overall health and well-being. With the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive we can help a vital community organization reduce hunger in our area.”
Last year, MountainView collected more than 2,300 jars to benefit CdP. This year, we need your help to exceed that number.
Here's what you can do:
- Donate jars of peanut butter; please note that glass jars cannot be accepted – only plastic jars, but all sizes are welcome. Collection bins are set up at the following locations in Las Cruces:
- MountainView Regional Medical Center, 4311 E. Lohman Ave., in the main lobby
- Walmart stores
- FirstLight Federal Credit Union locations
- Nusenda Credit Union locations
- Make a monetary donation at casadeperegrinos.org/jars-of-love-peanut-butter-drive. A $5 donation provides two jars of peanut butter, or join the 10 Jar Challenge with a gift of $25.
- Host a collection bin at your business or organization. Send us an email to get started.
