Drive doubles donations, collecting 4,703 jars, for Casa de Peregrinos
LAS CRUCES, NM, April 4, 2025 – With the help of local businesses, employees, and community members, MountainView Regional Medical Center has collected 4,703 jars of peanut butter to help fight hunger through its third annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive.
The Drive ran throughout the month of March and benefits Casa de Peregrinos, a local emergency food program. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, an estimated 22 percent of people in Las Cruces live in poverty. This can have a profound impact on overall health and well-being. Peanut butter is a sought-after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items.
“Our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is part of our commitment to support better health and has increasingly gained traction in the community,” said MountainView CEO Matthew Conrad. “This year, we are proud to announce that we have doubled the number of peanut butter jars collected. We thank everyone who has generously contributed to this important cause.”
MountainView extends a special thanks to Nusenda Credit Union and Comfort Keepers for their significant support for the Drive. Nusenda Credit Union made a monetary donation of $2,500 to be used to purchase peanut butter, and Las Cruces Nusenda locations served as Jars of Love donation sites. Comfort Keepers in Las Cruces also made a large contribution, donating 720 jars of peanut butter.

Wow! 4,700 jars of peanut butter that Casa de Peregrinos is now able to share with our hungry neighbors is a blessing indeed; thank you to our friends at MoutainView and to everyone who donated.”
