Rio Grande Medical Group to be Acquired by MountainView Medical Group
Las Cruces, NM. (8/3/17) –MountainView Medical Group, an affiliate of MountainView Regional Medical Center, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Rio Grande Medical Group. This transaction, expected to close this fall, reinforces both organizations’ strong commitment to provide quality, compassionate care for patients throughout Southern New Mexico.
The transition should be seamless to patients, and Rio Grande providers will continue to see patients at their current locations.
“We are taking this step because of our commitment to provide quality care for our patients and our desire to be part of a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery,” said Eugene Samuel, chief executive officer of Rio Grande Medical Group. “Joining MountainView Medical Group will provide our patients with increased access to specialty physicians and the comprehensive inpatient and outpatient health care services provided by MountainView Regional Medical Center.”
Rio Grande Medical Group is one of the area’s largest physician practice groups, employing 140 people, including nearly 30 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants specializing in family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, and rheumatology. Rio Grande Medical Group was founded in 2000 by Dr. Roset Samuel, Dr. Hasan Adnan, Dr. Robert Carmody, and Dr. Tim Herndon. Currently, they serve patients in three Las Cruces locations and one Deming location. Eugene Samuel, Chief Executive Officer of Rio Grande, will continue as Administrator, providing leadership continuity for management of the practice and its services. Dr. Adnan will remain as the director of pediatrics for Rio Grande, and Dr. Samuel will continue her role as director of family practice for Rio Grande.

MountainView Medical Group currently employs more than 80 physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and physician assistants. Operating 31 locations throughout southern New Mexico, MountainView Medical Group provides access to 20 specialties including neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, bariatric surgery, sleep medicine, orthopedics and more.
